How to mend a broken relationship with my mom?
I`m 19 years old and have a boyfriend which we are planning on getting marry soon.From every since my mom found out abt our relationship she hates me. she calls me names and said God is going to do something bad to me if i dont broke up with him. i love my mom and respect her but she refuse to accept the fact that i am growing up now and will eventually fall in love one day. she quarrels everyday abt it. if i reach home 6pm after leaving work at 4pm and spend 2 hours with boyfriend she gets upset abt it. i`m planning on moving out do you think this is the right thing to do? i dont want to loose the relationship with my mom. desperate for good advice!
Shasha – Good Day. I would recommend doing an extensive self evaluation before making a decision. This decision will be a big one. 1) Are you able to move out on your own without support ? 2) Is this the first time that your mom has reacted this way? 3) If not, could it be do to a medical condition like menapause or is this a sense of control? Sometimes mothers have a hard time letting go. And they can fear loosing you. If this be the case, the only way she could possibly get through this is through much prayer asking God to take the feeling from her, and you sticking to your guns about your decisions in a respectful way. However, never accept negativity or damnation from anyone. You have to protect yourself and stay healthy. 4) She may feel that you’re too young and making a big mistake. I know that I did when I married at 19. I was so in love, but I knew nothing about life and marriage. I wished I had waited a little longer, and experienced more first. But, whatever you do, always treat your mom with love and respect, you only have 1. I hope this helps, have a blessed day!
